How do I arrange for private lessons?

The Woodstock Skating Club is fortunate to have retained a high calibre of dedicated professionals who, in addition to club work, offer private lessons. The Club does not participate in your selection of a professional for your skater.

Tips for Consideration

1.Talk to the pros. You are making a decision for your skater’s needs. Therefore, take the time to introduce yourself, advise them that you are considering private lessons, and inquire as to whether the pro is accepting students. Talk to skating parents for added information if desired.

2. Watch the pros. Check out how they conduct themselves and how they interact with the other skaters.

4. Fees. Fees for service vary so feel free to ask the coach what they charge.

5. Group Lessons. For younger skaters, you may wish to ask whether the pro is taking on small group lessons.

REMEMBER....IT’S YOUR DECISION.

Parents should expect their children’s coaches to:

« be safety conscious.

« be properly trained in the art of coaching.

« make the sport enjoyable for their children.

« treat each child as an individual.

Parents should not expect their children’s coaches to:

« be babysitters.

« push children unreasonably.

« make a star athlete out of their child, unless the child is exceptionally talented.

« force a non-competitive child into competition.
